Boy, Did I Get a Wrong Number!

Boy, Did I Get a Wrong Number! 1966 United Artists, now owned by MGM and distributed to DVD by 20th Century Fox.
Starring: Bob Hope, Elke Sommer, Phyllis Diller, Marjorie Lord
Director: George Marshall
Part of the Bob Hope MGM Movie Legends Collection, available from Amazon.

This is generally considered Bob Hope's worst movie. Let's judge that for ourselves.

Tired of a seemingly endless line of bathtub sequences, actress Didi (Sommer) flees the set of her latest picture after being dunked into a tub by her director, who's going to get that bubble bath scene filmed or else. Didi ends up in Oregon, encountering the real estate agent Tom Meade (Hope), whose home she picks to hide out in for a while. A clearly infatuated Tom and his maid Lily (Diller) conspire to keep Didi hidden so that Mrs. Meade (Lord) doesn't find out.

Well, the movie really didn't pick up until Tom was accused of Didi's murder, even though there was indisputable proof that she was alive, but Tom still embarked on a funny car chase. Phyllis Diller's role was probably the best part of the movie, even if she was sporting a pretty frightening hairstyle for 1966. Not that bad, but not that great, either.
