Watchmen: The Complete Motion Comic

Watchmen: The Complete Motion Comic. 2008 DC Comics and Warner Premiere.
Vocal talent: Tom Stechschulte
Director: Jake S. Hughes
Available at Amazon.

I'm wagering that this was made to satisfy those who were absolutely convinced that the only way that Watchmen could be translated to the big screen would be to stay 100 percent faithful to the original graphic novel. This is basically the comic book brought to life with limited animation and sound effects. My main complaint so far is that perhaps they should have used more than one vocal talent (Stechschulte) to flesh out the cast. Hearing a man roleplaying as one of the few female characters is pretty bizarre.

Also, whoever put this one together decided to include dialogue balloons and pages from Rorschach's journals on the screen. Most of the time, it's very hard to read, and perhaps it would've been best left out of the final product.

It's interesting, but it's not something you should go out of your way for. Although, I am intrigued by the idea that DC and Warner could consider continuing to release these "motion comics" for some of their other well known graphic novels (Kingdom Come, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Crisis on Infinite Earths, etc.) I would recommend that you pick up the book first, and invest in this motion comic DVD later on.
