Slaughterhouse-Five

You know the drill: Billy Pilgrim (Sacks) has become unstuck in time in the film version of Kurt Vonnegut's novel.

The movie focuses on Pilgrim's three primary periods of time that he bounces back and forth from randomly. He spends a lot of time as a prisoner of war during World War II, including the firebombing of Dresden, while dealing with fellow POWs Edgar Derby (Roche) and the lunatic Paul Lazzaro (Leibman). In the present day, Billy is a middle-aged optometrist in New York state, happily married with children, living very comfortably, and his family seems to know whenever Billy is "time tripping". The third period of Billy's life takes place on the alien planet Tralfamadore after he was abducted by that planet's inhabitants (who can see in four dimensions) along with actress Montana Wildhack (Perrine). They are exhibited in a "cosmic zoo" together, and eventually have a child there.

So it goes. Highly recommended.
